Syfy Aquires New Zealand Series The Almighty Johnsons
Meet an ordinary band of blokes with the powers of the Norse Gods.
The series follows an unlikely group of suburban superheroes who have acquired the powers of the Norse Gods.
The Almighty Johnsons stars Jared Turner as Ty, Dean O’Gorman as Anders, Tim Balme as Mike, Emmet Skilton as Axl, and later Ben Barrington as Olaf (who is introduced in the third season). Described as an action-packed comedy drama, the series focuses on the young men’s ordinary struggles — like searching for love and overcoming sibling rivalry — while they seek to fulfill their supernatural destiny.
Syfy has picked up the first two seasons of the show (23 episodes), and will air at least the first, 10-episode season in 2014. It marks the first U.S. broadcast of a drama series that is wholly originated and produced in New Zealand.
The show joins Syfy’s line-up of other original series acquired from other countries, including the U.K.’s Merlin and Sinbad, and Canada’s Continuum, Lost Girl, and Primeval: New World. The network has been increasingly relying on international acquisitions, rather than their own home-grown productions, in recent years.

I rather them remake a US version
I hate to be an editor or fact checker but I love this show…these are the characters/gods (all in season 1 and afterwards) and the actors who play the Johnsons:
Axl (Odin) played by Emmet Skilton
Mike (Ullr) played by Tim Balme
Anders (Bragi) Dean O’Gorman
Ty (Hoor) Jared Turner
Olaf (Baldr) Ben Barrington
Great show. Don’t change a thing except fire the fool at SYFY U.S. who just broadcast the season two finally. What happened? It is on late. I did get to DVR and see the whole first season last year.
