BBC Gives Atlantis A September Premiere Date – Plus: Details on Episode 1!
The fantasy series bows in the U.K. later this month!
We’ve known for some time now that BBC America will launch the new fantasy series Atlantis on November 23 in the U.S.A. — the same night as the (sure to be epic) Doctor Who 50th anniversary special. But across the pond, the BBC has been quiet on just when it would begin the series.
Today the announcement came — and the premiere date is not far off.
Atlantis will make its world premiere on BBC One on Saturday, September 28 at 8:25 pm. (This via the show’s official Twitter account.)
We’ve also dug up details on the first episode of the 13-episode series (which Den of Geek says is titled “The Earth Bull”), courtesy of Radio Times:
Fantasy drama set in the vast legendary city, following the adventures of the young Jason and his friends Hercules and Pythagoras. Fledgling hero Jason goes in search of his father, only to find himself washed up on the shores of a mysterious land — a world of strange creatures, soothsaying oracles and palaces so large it is said they were built by giants. This is the city of Atlantis — but the newcomer soon realises he has chosen the wrong time to arrive when he becomes mixed up in a deadly ritual from which it seems there is no escape.
The show is created by Merlin and Misfits creator Howard Overman, and will give its own creative take on the classics of Greek mythology — from Hercules and Medusa to Jason and the Argonauts. Jack Donnelly, Mark Addy, and Robert Emms star.
