Falling Skies Begins Production on Season Four
Noah Wyle talks about the season premiere, “Ghost In the Machine.”
It’s only been a few weeks since the third season of Falling Skies took its final bow on TNT, and now production on the fourth season is in full swing!
If you haven’t caught up yet, watch out for Season Three spoilers below.
The first episode of Season Four is titled “Ghost In the Machine,” and it picks up two weeks after the events of the season finale. The 2nd Mass is on its way away from the Boston area, with their former allies the Volm threatening to break the war with the Espheni wide open there. Meanwhile Tom’s wife Anne (Moon Bloodgood) has returned, along with their young daughter Alexis — now revealed to be a half-alien hybrid, who has special abilities and who is growing at an accelerated pace.
David Eick (Battlestar Galactica, Touch) has joined the series and is taking over showrunning duties this year.
“I think it’s going to be a good season,” series lead Noah Wyle told Zap2It. “Tom is still getting to know this new daughter of his, who he thought was six months old and looks very much like a seven year old. And her growth rate will continue to be pretty accentuated. It should make for some interesting story lines.”
The show’s writers will reportedly step back from the heavier sci-fi elements that were showcased this past season, and return to a focus on character relationships. “Thematically, the way it’s been explained to me is that we went a little out there in the sci-fi wing last season, and we’re going to pull it back a bit and focus more on these characters and interpersonal conflict,” Wyle said. “There’s a couple big story lines that are going to run over the course of the season but I can’t divulge them yet.”

What sci-fi elements? Other than Cochise and the final episode, there were no fish heads and very few skitters & mechs in the season. We need more sci-fi!
Also, don’t have Tom get lost or kidnapped and make his way back safely anymore. No one can be that lucky!!!
