Body-Snatching Intruders Coming To BBC America
The U.S. cable network has added an 8-episode series based on the Michael Marshall book.
U.S. cable channel BBC America is stepping up its commitment to the science fiction genre, with another new show in production for 2014. The network has announced it has put Intruders into development, a short-run series based on the novel The Intruders by Michael Marshall.
Intruders is about a secret society devoted to chasing immortality by seeking refuge in the bodies of others. It is written and executive produced by Glen Morgan (The X-Files).
Eight episodes of the series will begin production early next spring, with Jane Tranter (Da Vinci’s Demons, Torchwood) and Julie Gardner (Doctor Who) also executive producing for BBC Worldwide Productions.
“Intruders features an imaginative premise that fits perfectly with BBC America’s signature block of complex and otherworldly dramas led by Doctor Who and Orphan Black,” BBC America General Manager Perry Simon said. “Glen Morgan has delivered a brilliant script, and we’re thrilled to be working with Glen, Jane Tranter, Julie Gardner and our colleagues at BBC Worldwide Productions on this provocative new series.”
BBC Worldwide will also distribute the show internationally.
