Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Gets Full-Season Pick-Up
ABC wants more of its new action show.
ABC is thrilled with newcomer Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and today made it official by giving the series a full-season order.
The series premiere drew 12.1 million viewers (Live + Same Day), which ABC says is the highest-rated new series premiere for a drama in four years. It’s also the top-rated new drama this season in the all-important demographic of adults ages 18 to 49, with a 4.0 same-day rating and a 5.7 Live + 3 Days rating.
The show is, of course, doing an especially good job attracting a male audience — an area in which ABC hasn’t been the strongest.
S.H.I.E.L.D. is just three episodes into its freshman season. It tells the story of the non-superpowered agents who track down dangerous objects and people with emerging powers, set in the same universe as the Marvel films — The Avengers, Iron-Man, Captain America, Hulk, and Thor.
The show stars Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Brett Dalton as Agent Grant Ward, Chloe Bennet as Skye, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, and Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons. There are also occasional cameo appearances from the broader Marvel universe, including Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill and Samuel L. Jackson as S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury.
Tune in to the next episode Tuesday at 8/7 on ABC! You can keep up with the show’s latest goings-on each week right here at SciFi Stream.
