Sci-Fi Premiere: The Tomorrow People Starts Tonight on The CW
The CW leaps into science fiction with tonight’s debut (9/8c).
We’ve enjoyed fantasy and comic book action shows on The CW for years now. Before there was Arrow and Supernatural, there was Smallville and (in the days of The WB) Buffy and Angel.
But tonight, The CW goes full-on science fiction.
It’s the premiere of The Tomorrow People (9/8c), a series that may have looked pretty unlikely a few years ago. It’s a remake (and a significantly reinvented one, at that) of a British children’s series from the 1970s, but updated and made to fit The CW’s brand of sexy teenagers played by sexy twenty-somethings.
And from what we’ve seen so far — watch the 4-minute preview below — it looks pretty damn cool.
The show follows young Stephen Jameson (Robbie Amell), whose emerging powers of teleportation, telepathy, and telekinesis threaten to wreck his life and turn him into a lab specimen. But then he meets “Tomorrow People” Cara (Peyton List) and John (Luke Mitchell), who convince him that he is one of them. They are the future of human evolution, and now the Tomorrow People are being hunted for what they are.
The Tomorrow People is developed by Phil Klemmer and executive produced by a CW all-star team that includes Greg Berlanti (Arrow), Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries), and Danny Cannon (Nikita).
