Being Human To End After Four Seasons

Syfy’s Being Human will take its final bow this spring, the cable network announced today.

The series will air its finale on April 7, concluding four seasons and 52 episodes for Aidan, Sally, Josh, and Nora. The announcement comes with a video in which cast members Sam Witwer, Meaghan Rath, Sam Huntington, and Kristen Hager thank the fans and talk about what they will miss most. (Watch it below.)

Being Human followed four unlikely roommates living in Boston — a vampire, a ghost, and a pair of werewolves. It’s an adaptation of the U.K. series of the same name, created by Toby Whithouse, which ran for five (shorter) seasons and in later years saw a complete turn-over of its cast. The U.S. version followed many of the same storylines, though with twice as many episodes each year.

Ratings for the U.S. version of Being Human started at around 2 million viewers when the show premiered in 2011, and settled around 1.4 million in its second season. Seasons Three and Four have averaged closer to 1.1 million each week (Live + Same Day).

“Showrunner Anna Fricke and the talented producers, writers, cast and crew have done an amazing job bringing this show to life over the past four seasons and we sincerely thank them and the series’ production company Muse Entertainment for their hard work,” Syfy said in a statement. “They’ve saved the best for last with the final six episodes that revisit the story’s beginning, leading to a not-to-be-missed send-off for Aidan, Sally, Josh and Nora.”
