The Walking Dead‘s Norman Reedus To Star In Sci-Fi Thriller Air
Djimon Hounsou will co-star in the film from Dead creator Robert Kirkman.
The Walking Dead co-star Norman Reedus will star alongside Djimon Hounsou (Alias, Push) in the sci-fi feature film Air, about life after the Earth’s atmosphere becomes unbreathable.
The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman is producing the thriller, which Sony Pictures is negotiating to acquire.
“The story is set in an underground cryogenic facility after a nuclear fallout renders the atmosphere unbreathable,” The Hollywood Reporter says. “Air centers on its two custodial workers (Reedus, Hounsou), who take care of the cryogenically sleeping personnel that are to re-establish society, but they struggle to preserve their own sanity and lives while maintaining the extremely fragile environment of the last livable place on earth.”
Video game writer Christian Cantamessa (Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas) penned the script for Air (formerly Wake Cycle) with Chris Pasetto, and will also direct the low-budget feature.
Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment is also producing other potential TV series, including Clone and Outcast, presumably as well as the previously-announced spin-off for The Walking Dead.
Reedus plays fan-favorite Daryl Dixon on the hit AMC zombie drama. Hounsou will next be seen in the big-budget features Guardians of the Galaxy and Fast & Furious 7.
