Gotham Set For Mondays, May Have Shorter Season

The Batman prequel will join Sleepy Hollow in a genre block

FOX has officially announced its fall schedule for the 2014-2015 broadcast season, sending the awesome-looking comic book show Gotham to Monday nights (8/7c).

The new fantasy drama will be paired with last fall’s hit new genre series Sleepy Hollow (9/8c).

Both shows’ premiere date will be announced later.

Deadline is also reporting that Gotham will have 16 episodes for its first season, according to FOX programming exec Kevin Reilly. It’s a rather unusual episode order, which Reilly joked is “hand-crafted” by the network.

The network is free, of course, to either add to or trim from the order — depending on how the show performs when it premieres in the fall.

The shorter run may also allow FOX to run Gotham more or less uninterrupted, which Reilly said is the intention with Sleepy Hollow‘s 18-episode second season.

Ben McKenzie stars in Gotham as Jim Gordon, the future Commissioner of Gotham’s police department. In this world Bruce Wayne is still a child, and the future criminals of Gotham’s underworld are still in the making — including the future Riddler, Penguin, Catwoman, and more.
