Syfy’s The Expanse: Watch The First Trailer!
Network calls the space opera its “most ambitious series to date”
If you thought the December miniseries Ascension was going to take Syfy Channel back to outer space (and felt a little ripped off), get ready for The Expanse.
The network this week released the first full trailer for the new original series, which you can see below.
Based on the series of novels by James S. A. Corey (pen name of Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, who will also serve as producers on the TV series), The Expanse is set 200 years into our future, when human colonies stretch from the Earth to Mars to the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. It chronicles the mission of Belt-born Josephus Miller (Thomas Jane, Hung, Medium), a detective who must join forces with James Holden (Steven Strait, Magic City, Revenge) — rogue captain of an ice-carrying freighter called Canterbury — to find a missing heiress. But their mission leads them straight into the heart of a conspiracy that spans the solar system.
Published in 17 countries, the novels have been nominated for Locus and Hugo Awards, and Syfy President Dave Howe calls the series “epic in scale and scope, and promises to be Syfy’s most ambitious series to date.”
The first season will have 10 episodes, to premiere sometime later this year.
