The Walking Dead Spin-off Title Made Official
The first season debuts this summer
AMC has made it official: the title of The Walking Dead spin-off is Fear the Walking Dead.
The title was rumored earlier this year, but the cable network wasn’t yet willing to commit to a title when it announced the series’ pick-up two weeks ago.
The series will be set in L.A. and shoot in Vancouver, B.C., following a different group of characters in their experiences with the early days of the zombie apocalypse. (The flagship series has taken place in and around Atlanta, Georgia, with the storyline since moving to Washington, D.C.)
Stars include Cliff Curtis (Gang Related), Kim Dickens (Sons of Anarchy), Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) and Alycia Debnam Carey (Into the Storm). Dave Erickson co-created the show with The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, and serves as showrunner. The pilot was directed by Adam Davidson.
Fear the Walking Dead was given a 2-season order, with a 6-episode first season to premiere sometime this summer. Season Two is expected to air in 2016, though AMC hasn’t specified how many episodes it will include.
