Syfy Orders Futuristic Thriller Incorporated To Series
The series comes from producers Matt Damon and Ben Affleck
Syfy Channel today has given a series order to Incorporated, an espionage thriller set in the near future where powerful corporations operate with unchecked power.
The 13-episode drama hails from Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s Pearl Street Productions, along with CBS Television Studios and Universal Cable Productions. It will debut this fall.
Syfy commissioned a pilot for the show last year, which was written and directed by show creators David and Alex Pastor.
British actor Sean Teale (Reign, Skins) stars as Ben Larson, described as “a young executive who conceals his true identity to infiltrate a very dangerous corporate world to save the woman he loves — but he’ll soon learn that he’s not the only one whose secrets may have deadly consequences.”
Incorporated also stars Eddie Ramos (Teen Wolf), Dennis Haysbert (24), and Julia Ormond (Mad Men).
“The most powerful science fiction holds up a mirror to our world,” Syfy president Dave Howe said. “Incorporated is exactly that type of smart, provocative series, delivering a fresh, edge of your seat thriller that challenges notions of the world we live in today.”
Syfy has been piling on the new scripted dramas in recent months, with the premieres of The Expanse and The Magicians, and the forthcoming Wynonna Earp (April 1), Hunters (April 11), Van Helsing (fall), and the horror anthology series Channel Zero (fall). Also returning later this year are Bitten (third and final season), 12 Monkeys, Dark Matter, Killjoys, and Z Nation.
Stay tuned to SciFi Stream for more on the new show in the months ahead!

Seems like many sci-fi shows are using the tired tropes of either an “evil corporation” or an “evil businessman”. Nothing but Hollywood Political Correctness. When’s the last time there was a show with business being shown in a good light?
How about something original? Or if not original, how about adapting popular classic sci-fi books that have never been put on the screen? Lots of great hard science fiction books out there with the problems coming from aliens, the technology, the environment, etc. rather than “business”.

Yes I agree for most part with your comments. We need more original SF. Its the same old story I guess, property rights on one end versus studio interests on the other.
