Fallout TV Series Gets A Second Season

Prime Video’s Fallout is the biggest genre hit of 2024 (so far), and a ratings winner for Amazon’s streaming service. Today Prime Video handed the show a renewal for Season 2.

Prime says that Fallout ranked among the service’s top three most-watched titles ever in its first four days of streaming. It’s also the most-watched season globally since The Rings of Power bowed in 2022.

“Praise be to our insanely brilliant showrunners, Geneva and Graham, to our kick-ass cast, to Todd and James and all the legends at Bethesda, and to Jen, Vernon and the amazing team at Amazon for their incredible support of this show,” executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy said. “We can’t wait to blow up the world all over again.”

Set more than 200 years after the surface world was obliterated by a nuclear apocalypse, the TV series follows a trio of protagonists: optimistic Vault-dweller Lucy (Ella Purnell), who ventures out into the surface world after her home is attacked; ambitious soldier Maximus (Aaron Moten), working to rise in the ranks of the militaristic faction called the Brotherhood of Steel; and the Ghoul (Walton Goggins), a not-quite-dead survivor of the blasts who now roams the hostile surface world as a bounty hunter. Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks) also co-stars.

Based on Bethesda’s Fallout video game franchise, the television adaptation is even being received well by gamers as a worthy entry in the larger Fallout universe.

Fallout comes from Amazon MGM Studios and Kilter Films and is executive produced by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. They’re honestly some of my favorite television writers today, with the likes of Person of Interest, Westworld, and The Peripheral under their belt.

Series creators Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner also executive produce and showrun Fallout.

“Holy shit. Thank you to Jonah, Kilter, Bethesda and Amazon for having the courage to make a show that gravely tackles all of society’s most serious problems these days — cannibalism, incest, jello cake. More to come!,” Robertson-Dworet and Wagner said.

Bethesda Game Studios’ Todd Howard said that the Fallout show has been “one of the most spectacular projects we’ve ever been a part of. Jonah and team did such an incredible job, and we’re overjoyed not just by the reaction to the show, but that we get to work with these amazing people even more.”

All eight episodes of Fallout‘s debut season are now streaming on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories around the world.
