A discovery in the outlands reveals that a Sentry released by Brainiac is at large on Krypton and may have taken a host body. Meanwhile the military launches a crackdown on the Rankless zone, hoping to squeeze the terrorist group Black Zero.
The Voice of Rao works to assuage dissent among the Rankless, scapegoating Lyta for her squadron's role in the recent violence. Seg turns to Nyssa for help, and is approached by Black Zero.
With her daughter sentenced to death, Jayna is torn between her duty and her family when Nyssa offers to intervene. Seg and a fellow survivor fight to escape from Black Zero.

When Brainiac arrives over Kandor in force, Zod travels to the Phantom Zone in an attempt to rescue the one person who might know how to stop him. While Seg and Lyta evacuate the city, Nyssa attempts to rescue her unborn child.
