When Lorna's baby falls gravely ill the Inner Circle abducts Marcos in the hopes that he can help. Meanwhile Thunderbird and Blink go in search of a mutant leader living beneath the streets of Washington, D.C., and Reed and Lauren's run is complicated when his powers manifest.
After kidnapping Wire's computer hacker brother for help, Caitlin goes to great lengths to force his cooperation on an operation that could find Andy. Meanwhile the mutants try to intervene in an enemy attack on a hospital, and Jace is contacted by a potential ally.
Andy helps the Inner Circle's new recruit come out of her shell, while Jace decides to attend a meeting of the Purifiers. While Caitlin and John try to save the life of a mutant who bleeds acid, Marcos and Clarice bring the hospital survivors to the Morlocks in the hope of finding a them new home.
After Lorna demands answers about their next secret mission, Esme takes her to case their target -- and confides in her about the Frost sisters' secret past. Reed is reluctant to take lessons from John, but must use his powers to help Mutant refugees escape when Jace leads the Purifiers to their doorstep.
As the Inner Circle assaults a fortified bank, Reeva works to remain in control. Caitlin and Lauren search for a way to help Reed as his powers spiral out of control, and Jace meets the Purifiers' influential leader.
The Inner Circle's actions precipitate a backlash of public outrage against the Mutant community, and Thunderbird and Blink hunt for answers. Reed, Caitlin, and Lauren find a doctor who may be able to stabilize Reed's powers, and Lorna reflects on her troubled history with her father.
Lauren tries to convince her parents that Dr. Risman is not on their side, as Andy and Lorna consider the sacrifices they have made for the Inner Circle. Meanwhile Jace steps up to rally the Purifiers against Mutants, and John, Clarice, and Marco try their hands at a little kidnapping.
